OpenAI announced $110 billion in new funding at a $730 billion pre-money valuation, marking one of the largest private capital raises in the technology sector. The round includes $30 billion from SoftBank Group Corp, $30 billion from NVIDIA, and $50 billion from Amazon. Additional financial investors are expected to participate as the round progresses.

The company said the funding will support surging global demand for AI across consumers, developers, and enterprises. According to OpenAI, scaling access to advanced AI systems requires sustained investment in compute infrastructure, distribution channels, and capital resources.

Strategic Partnership with Amazon

As part of the announcement, OpenAI confirmed a multi-year strategic partnership with Amazon aimed at accelerating AI adoption for enterprises, startups, and end users worldwide. The collaboration is expected to expand OpenAI’s global reach and strengthen infrastructure deployment across key markets.

Expanded Collaboration with NVIDIA

OpenAI is also deepening its long-standing collaboration with NVIDIA. The agreement includes 3GW of dedicated inference capacity and 2GW of training capacity on next-generation Vera Rubin systems. This builds on Hopper and Blackwell systems already in operation across partners including Microsoft, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, and CoreWeave.

The expanded compute footprint is designed to support the training and deployment of frontier AI models at global scale, improving response speeds, reliability, and overall system performance.

Rapid Growth Across Products

OpenAI reported significant growth across its product ecosystem.

ChatGPT now serves more than 900 million weekly active users, with over 50 million consumer subscribers. The company indicated that January and February are on track to be the largest months for new subscriber additions in its history. Users rely on ChatGPT for learning, writing, planning, coding, and automation tasks.

On the enterprise side, more than 9 million paying business users utilize ChatGPT for workplace applications. Organizations are expanding AI deployments beyond individual productivity to functions such as engineering, customer support, finance, sales, and operations. OpenAI’s Frontier platform enables enterprises to build and manage AI “coworkers” within their internal systems.

Codex, the company’s software engineering-focused AI system, has also seen rapid adoption. Weekly users have more than tripled since the start of the year, reaching 1.6 million. The tool allows individuals to perform development tasks that previously required full engineering teams.

Strengthening the OpenAI Foundation

The new valuation increases the value of the OpenAI Foundation’s stake in OpenAI Group to more than $180 billion. The company said this strengthens the foundation’s ability to fund philanthropic initiatives, including health breakthroughs and AI resilience efforts.

A New Phase of AI Deployment

OpenAI described the current moment as a transition from research-driven AI to daily, global-scale deployment. Leadership in the sector, the company stated, will depend on the ability to scale infrastructure quickly enough to meet accelerating demand and convert that capacity into widely adopted products.

With expanded capital, compute partnerships, and distribution channels, OpenAI aims to accelerate development toward advanced AI systems while broadening access for individuals, businesses, and communities worldwide.
